ITA is presenting the history of Caribbean music as a first. It will be a fantastic opportunity to hear our lecturer and narrator Alex Pascall OBE who will give you a concise breakdown of the early years of Caribbean music from the many islands to present day. This will be of benefit and interest to many people. There are many periods where Caribbean music made a positive change and influenced other cultures globally.

 

 

We are also presenting The History of The Steel Drum by Gerald Forsyth because we recognise that many people don’t actually know where the steel pans came from and tend to make up stories about the origins of this amazing instrument which is the last instrument to be invented in the last millennium (Y2K). The steel pan has made great leaps in its development since its birth around 1939, thereby our lecturer Gerald Forsyth will take you through the birth of the instrument up to present day.
